Interior, ocean view, balcony, or suite? The cabin you choose can make or break your cruise experience. Here's what you need to know before you book.
Choosing the right cabin is one of the most important decisions in cruise planning. Interior cabins are the most affordable and perfectly comfortable — you'll spend most of your time outside the cabin anyway. Ocean view cabins add natural light and a window to the sea, which many travelers find worth the upgrade. Balcony cabins are the sweet spot for most cruisers: private outdoor space to enjoy sunrises, sunsets, and scenic sailing days. They're especially worthwhile on Alaska and Norwegian Fjord itineraries where you'll want to be outside as much as possible. Suites offer the most space, premium amenities, and often include priority boarding, dedicated concierge service, and exclusive dining venues. Location matters too: midship cabins on lower decks experience the least motion — important if you're prone to seasickness. Avoid cabins directly below the pool deck (noisy) or near the anchor (loud on port days). I know the best cabin locations on most major ships and can steer you toward the right choice for your budget and preferences.
